Gourds Gig of the Week: Beeblefest II June 26, 2010

The Gourds Live at Beeblefest II @ The Scoot Inn June 26, 2010

“Great time last night at the Scoot Inn, which turned out to be a pretty nice venue for Beeblefest. Great to see so many hardcore fans gathered together. It got more and more crowded up front as the night progressed, but never got uncomfortably so. Lots of highlights. Off the top of my head, a great Escalade that just ripped at the end as Kev hit a lot of nice peaks on electric guitar, my first live Sweet Nutty, a Michoacan that sizzled, Pick and Roll making a surprise appearance and a cool You Really Got Me. Right before the encore, Jimmy dunked his head into be icy cold water that had held the band’s beer stash.Great vibe the entire night. Everyone seemed to get off to the return of Beeblefest.” ~Tomski, comment from The Gourds News

I had an errand to run, well walk to, across Missoula and so, I set up my mics near the soundboard and hit record before I left…
The last track is the only piece of my Bumbershoot recording two days earlier that survived a grounding issue.
Guarantee, you’ll laugh.

Gourds Gig of the Week: New Year’s Eve 2005

Live at New Year’s Eve Jovita’s Cantina Austin Texas on 2005-12-31

BRING ON THE DANCING HORSES!!

The Gourds chase out 2005 at Jovita’s Cantina, a former favorite South Austin haunt. This High Holiday always brings out the fun new cover songs and this night did not disappoint.
Louisiana Saturday Night, Lord I Hope this Day is Good, Bring On the Dancing Horses, Sunday Morning and Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man make this a very unique night. The night kicks off with Jimmy and Kevin trading songs solo swap style to start the festivities. Throw in a Ramsay Midwood appearance and a little Joey Thompson guesting on guitar and you probably won’t need those black-eyed peas tomorrow. – Duck

Gourds Gig of the Week: Beeblefest 1997

The Gourds Live at Beeblefest Early Outdoor and Late Indoor Shows @Stubbs October 25, 1997

“Beeblefest was largely the work of manager Mike Stewart. We got some friends to play all day and called it a festival. Old 97s, The Skeletons, Tiny Town, Damnations, etc. It was not a financial success. Interesting too is that we did it with Charles Attal of Stubbs who some years later went on to found ACL festival. I like to think he learned a thing or two about how to put on a festival from Beeblefest.” – Kevin Russell

Hear Gourds manager, MIke “Stewball” Stewart share some memories of putting on Beeblefest.

Gourds Gig of the Week: May 17, 2002 – Tres Grupos Magnificos

New Compositions From the Creamy Socket of the Gourds

The show starts with Jimmy set to vibrate and Kevin’s announcement that they are going to play “new compositions from the creamy socket of the Gourds”. Jorge has us off at a canter. You are in for a ride! This show has been a favorite of Barnes and mine since it happened, as much fun was had. There are crash and burn moments despite, as the band was loose and having some fun. Scott Biram and the Weary Boys had the crowd drunk on their feet by this point and the band wasn’t far behind. Also, my fault as I may have led at least one band member down the path of the stone, and not the usual suspect! He fesses up, so so should I. ~Duck
